Well spring went by SO fast as and to round it up and welcome in summer we have some real musical ear candy treats for this Junes LMF!
Our first act is a real a-lister, someone that’s worked with some of the biggest names in music from The Editors, Maximo Park to Tom Baxter. Richard Stokes (pictured below), singing for rock band Aquila, whose style was described by the BBC as ‘Darkly danceable slices of guitar-driven confessions’, Stokes will be going solo at Church St. His influences include Nick Cave, Amanda Palmer, Tim Minchin and Nina Simone. You’ll realise half way through the first song why he’s making it big and how lucky we are he’s gracing Church St.
The second act is a special close-to-home act for Church St. Our very own David Westcombe! When he’s not serving you delicious coffee our newer addition to the team studies at Birmingham conservatoire. Accompanied by some friends, David will be bringing fresh, hot Jazz in June for us so when he’s famous and earning millions you could say ‘Oh, he served me coffee!’ or ‘I heard him play before he was famous. I’m that cool.’
So we’ll see you at Church St this Friday (6th) from 7pm!
