Urban has been working with sifa fireside (homeless charity) for a couple of years now as part of our community activity. We are proud to say we have helped four individuals to date, of which two are currently employed in one of our cafe emporiums. Through this work we have pioneered a methodology for small food & beverage businesses to work with sifa to get homeless people off the streets and back into work. The programme is called “Work it out“.
On Monday 19th November at 6pm we officially launch this programme and invite other businesses who are interested in working with sifa to attend (Jewellery Quarter emporium). The night will entail discussions around homelessness in the City and what we as small and medium independent businesses can do to help combat these issues and, more importantly, help those who are ready to get back into work and off the streets.
Our Mayor, Andy Street, will be talking on the impact homelessness is having on the city and what his task force are doing in order to help reduce the numbers of those in need.
What’s in it for you ?
Well there will be free fizz and nibbles on the night, but most importantly this night will be a chance for you to
register your interest in helping your community. You will not be expected to sign up to anything on the night, we are simply hoping to spread awareness and hopefully get your contact details if you are interested in taking part in the
‘Work it Out’ project.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org We ask that only business owners/decision makers come to the event as we have limited numbers.
