It wasn’t too long ago that the majority of payments in a coffee shop were made by cash but contactless changed everything. Since its introduction in 2007 it has slowly gained popularity but in the last 3 years as the majority of retailers adopted the technology it has caught fire.
Last year we polled our customers to get their opinion on going cashless and we got a 50/50 response fore and against, we actually expected the results to be much more clear and in favour of going cashless. At the time given the feedback we decided not to change anything but a year on our customers spending habits are shouting loud and clear. Over 75% of our customers now pay via card at our Church Street emporium.
So we decided to carry out a little experiment, we went cashless at weekends to see what impact that would have and a year later we can safely say know body noticed. So from the 1st of November Church Street will be a totally cashless emporium as we will accept card only.
