The Collective are a group of illustrators who all met and graduated in Birmingham. Their love for art and coffee brought them together to meet at Urban Coffee. Once all the members graduated, the group decided to form as a collective and felt Coffee Club was an oh-so suitable name, considering where it had all started.
Katie, one of the Collective’s talents picks up the story, “we’ve been studying here and frequented many of the local independent coffee shops, so this is really exciting for us. Individually we’ve had exhibitions across a few of these shops previously and are very happy to be returning!”
“Now we’re out in the big wide world, with this being our first Coffee Club show!”
Tim Wilson, Coffee Birmingham’s founder was immediately taken by their enthusiasm to get involved and come up with coffee related ideas. “I think the story of how the Coffee Club Collective came into being sums up how coffee shops are relaxed places where creativity, collaboration, collision and ideas happen. I am so excited to be associating Coffee Birmingham with these talented artists.”
Alongside the exhibition, the Coffee Club Collective will also be running creative workshops at Urban Coffee Church Street as part of Coffee Birmingham 2012 on Saturday 29th September. More info to come imminently.
As Katie goes onto say, “Birmingham has shaped all of us as illustrators and taken us from nervous students to slightly less nervous practising illustrators, and we are so excited to show the work which ultimately, all started here. We can’t wait to show you.”
Come and find out why at our launch on Thursday 13th September 2012.
